Medi-Wear

post-image
"Medi-Wear" is a line of medical clothing specifically designed to integrate medicine. The Medi-Wear line will focus on addressing females managing Asthma as the prevalence is far higher. As exercise is one of the leading factors that can induce an asthma attack, the clothing line will be an activewear range that can hold and hide medication such as asthma puffers. Additionally, Medi-Wear will have a linked app that allows users to create a profile with their name, medical condition, action plan, personal emergency contact, emergency services and a GPS location finder. This information is accessed through a linked QR code.

Love this idea. I can see some great branding / labelling opportunities printed into the fabric to help raise awareness.

How can we help? What are three things you need assistance with?

This is a great idea, information about allergies, blood type etc could be woven into the fabric, like having an tattoo.

Hi UpRising, I'm interested in what you mean about labelling opportunities that are printed into fabric to raise awareness. I would love some direction about what and how I could raise awareness through Medi-Wear. Thanks for all the help :)

I love this idea, I would refine the App as it is a lot of information on one screen, and Make sure the visuals meet the recommended standard and are visually appealing. You can also consider making a few subheadings such as Emergency Contact details and Asthma Action plan as most people will call Triple 000 without accessing the app. Regarding the product, make sure you are using Sturdy materials or the 'pocket' compartment that is holding the asthma puffer is tight enough to stay with the activewear through vigorous exercise and different movements but is still easy to remove by the user or others.

As an Occupational Therapist working in private practice with people who have limitations to daily living, Jade, I applaud and commend you on your idea and design as it is one of a kind.  It is difficult to find clothing options to manage many aspects of illness and disability that are seen as mainstream, which your design appears to be. Well done!

Jade, this is a game changer. Love the fusion of innovation and practicality, style and convenience plus  the opportunity for meaningful change for asthma sufferers. Bravo and all the best in getting this off the ground.

Hi Jade,

I really like the idea of this. I'm not sure if you have heard of the emergency plus app. Essentially its an app that provides GPS coordinates and allows you to contact emergency services regardless of what carrier you are with and if you have phone reception or not.

If this could be somehow paired the information of the person you would be able to provide to emergency responders would allow them to prepare better for the scenario as they would have some of the persons medical history whilst still on route.

if this gets traction, I think there would be a period where there would need to be consultation with emergency services and first aid providers around the country to make this the new normal.

I wouldn't stop at active wear although there are heightened risks whilst exercising (for an asthmatic) there are many people who would miss out on this fantastic idea.

Hi there Jade, congratulations you are nearly there, hope all is going well.

If you could update the image on your Post to show a little collage of your projects development that would be fantastic. We will be awarding the top three UpRising design projects for 2024 and the UpRising alliance and community love to see the journey of your design.

There is a little feedback survey, if you could fill it in that would fantastic as it really helps us to understand how we can better help next years design students.
