Tiny Home village for Homelessness

post-image
This sustainable tiny home village is designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Featuring modular, eco-friendly homes, the village offers a safe and secure living space where residents can benefit from a wide range of support services, including counsellors and employment training. Communal gardens and shared dining areas foster community bonding. With a focus on sustainability, the village utilises renewable energy and resource-efficient solutions such as solar panels to reduce environmental impact. This approach to combatting homelessness ensures residents have the stability, skills, and support needed to rebuild their lives and transition into independent living.

A fantastic idea Ava.

How can we help? If you could list a few key points that you want advice on or help with resources/ connections, that would be great.

Looking forward to seeing your idea come to life.

Thankyou so much!

I would like some feedback and advice on how I should go about creating the initial plans and CAD drawings for the individual tiny homes. Would it be worthwhile making multiple designs and seeing what works best (different layouts, different sizes)? Also, is there any materials that work best or are a better option for creating models.

It would also be great to get some numbers or emails from people in the same field of work, that is building homes for the homeless, or even some connections and resources with people that work with the homeless population (potentially people from the census). Would you recommend talking to these people before I move onto finalising models and CAD drawings, possibly to see what is an important aspect for these homes.

I'm also excited to see the finished design :)

Google Sketch Up would be brilliant for what you are trying to do. It also has 3D Warehouse, which allows you to easily import 3D pieces of furniture. The option to export your architectural homes to google earth locations would allow you to digital place them over at Moore Park. See  https://www.sketchup.com/en/plans-and-pricing/sketchup-free

Reach out NSW Architects Registration Board https://www.architects.nsw.gov.au/ as they would be a great place to start to connect with a range of architects.

Talking to different gov agencies that support people who are homeless (I find it best to put 'person' first, 'situation' second), would be a great way to get to know your target market as well. People have lots of different needs and one size won't fit all. Also worth researching on the previous 'design fails' regarding high density low cost housing, compared to greater distribution of community housing. This could help with your 'Degree of Difference' in your folio.

Looking forward to seeing your next steps.

This is really helpful thankyou!

I have started to experiment with Sketchup some more as I have used it in previous years for assignments etc, and I have begun to create the communal gardens so I can edit and play around with my post and include my ideas on it. Would you recommend I import all the individual garden beds or build them using the tools available? (Just thinking it may be better so I can show my skills in that area)

I have also had a look at the list of architects website you have provided me with, and will be in touch with them.

Thankyou again for your advice it is really helpful :)
