Wow, a fantastic concept Poppy
So many interesting elements and complexities with this project. Have you got many contacts with First Nations people that can help you with this, either locally or from Countries from the Northern Territory?
What are three things that we can help with?
So looking forward to seeing how your project evolves and connections you make along the way.

Fantastic idea Poppy. Can't wait to see what you decide on for the final product.
I love this idea, you are so talented! Can't wait to see you execute this.
This is a magnificent idea. You are so talented. Wow!
Hi UpRising, thank you for your reply!
So far I have been in touch with Jajumbora 'Birthing in Our Community Hub', a team of midwives who specialise in pre and postnatal care for First Nations women. They have been very helpful in confirming the need for an innovation of this sort, relaying personal insights into the needs and requests that pregnant First Nations mothers commonly expressed. However, communication with Indigenous mothers (the people who would be receiving this product) is my biggest priority, so any further engagement with First Nation people would be very helpful. In addition to the above, I would love support with potentially developing bio-fabrics to create the mat. This is very important to my project as it will allow for the incorporation of Country, however it is proving to be difficult. Any help with this aspect would be greatly appreciated. As well as that, any contacts with hospitals that have midwifery or birthing facilities would be great in order to inquire about the use of birthing mats.
Thank you again for your support!
Hi there Poppy.
Found this organisation, https://www.gaimaragal.com.au/home/ might be worth reaching out to them.
Kind regards,
What an excellent idea. More needs to be done to support First Nations peoples' connection to country.
Fantastic research and a brilliant idea. It is great to see such a focus on Country and Birth! Good luck with this project.
Poppy, this is an incredible concept. Your desire to support First Nations women and families in a time of vulnerability and need is inspiring! Best of luck!
Great idea Poppy. It's important to keep our First Nations Mums connection to Country while ensuring the safety of themselves and their babies during the birthing process.
Good morning Poppy, what a fantastic idea!
This product will provide much needed support to First Nation women and families.
As only 5135 Indigenous Australians are employed as nurses and midwives across Australia, do you have a plan to incorporate training programs or other ways to inform medical staff of the importance of your product? Country is so important to these women, it would be detrimental to these communities to not use this product to its full potential.
