Re-designing hospital gowns for children

post-image
According to current ABS 1 in 10 Australian children suffer from a mental health disorder, the most common of these being anxiety and ADHD. After looking closely at this issue and the amount of time these children have to spend in hospitals it has become evident that they require a gown that is both physically engaging and aesthetically pleasing for the wearer. Therefore I plan to design an interactive gown that will make kids feel comfortable, safe, and help reduce anxieties whilst undertaking medical treatments and alleviates additional issues for medical professionals.

Love this idea Athena. So many clever elements to it. Recommend you check out haptic design. It is all about connecting with the human sensors. Could the material in the garments have areas that are haptic that create a positive sense of calm when touched? Lots of great research out there that does not need a lot of technical / digital work, https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8281818/

Looking forward to seeing your idea develop.
