What an amazing idea Jocelyn.
Do you have any particual regional communities in mind yet?
Would it be school based or community based?
Thank you so much for your comment PJM, I am currently looking at regional communities in general across Australia while drawing on my knowledge of places I have visited in person such as Coonabarabran, Broken Hill and Lightning Ridge. My MDP will be more focused towards communities in general rather than schools. If there are any insights you could provide that would be amazing.
Excellent idea. Community engagement on a realistic level. Very impressive.
Hi Jocelyn,
I think your idea is both an excellent and creative way to link natures form to a functional space. Sustainability and therein connection to our local environment is a key criteria in our ever improving design standards which focus of on the complete lifecycle of a product.
This idea in its current conceptual stage is exciting because there are many creative avenues to explore and further develop the project.
- Do you want this flower to be large enough for people to go inside or will to be the backdrop to a theater stage?
- Modularity /portability will be impacted by the designs size, materials and transport solutions that you have available.
- Is this design intended to be used for night shows and therefore require a lighting solution?
- Do you intend for the design to continually move or remain in a selected static state?
You should continue to sketch and draft different designs layouts thinking about scale and perspective (FRONT, TOP, SIDE). Some software that may help you develop your ideas further include Revit, Sketchup or AutoCAD.
I think this is a great concept that could take many different forms depending on which direction you wish to take.
All the best,

Thank you so much for your comment @David K,
My current design is of the theatre within the flower where people can enter so therefore will need to be large enough.
I hope for the theatre to be used as a regular city theatre which includes night shows so lighting will be considered.
I intend for the design to be portable to different rural areas across Australia however will remain static for long periods before moving on.
Thank you so much for your suggestions, I have experimented with Revit and Sketchup so far as well as Blender for 3D modelling, and am currently working on how the different petals which will be the modules can connect to each other for assembly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.
Jocelyn
