These are my final pieces cast in sterling silver. I am yet to piece them together but I hope to do that soon. The bangle will consist of fidget beads for distraction and a mood tracking bead (Using the same technology as mood rings) for early warning signs of anxiety and stress. The pendant will consist of a cooling system for users to apply to pressure points when panicked (Scientifically proven to calm during panic attacks). Finally the ring is a sensory grounding device made to ground wearer during anxiety.
I am aiming to design and create a greeting card that doubles as a countertop planter housing native Australian microgreens. To achieve my main goals of sustainability, education, and connection I will be designing a product that promotes anti-waste and personal food production, self-education on Indigenous plants and practices, and finally, connection to others through stories, thoughts, and ideas. Many people who garden struggle to store – and easily transport – garden tools. Because of this, I plan to create an adjustable gardening tool that can be easily transported in a gardening kit/toolbox.
I aim to design a ‘Wellbeing Room’ system which will be implemented into both primary schools and high schools across NSW. The purpose of this room is to help students who struggle with different issues such as poor mental health gain access to both support from professionals and a quiet and calming safe place at school. My MDP will also include tools to be implemented in the Wellbeing Room such as communication assistance cards for students feeling extremely anxious, sensory items and mindfulness devices. Australia is a country constantly on fire. At the moment, there is no good way for a person in a rural environment to survive and escape a fire without injury. Therefore, I propose the 'Emergency Fireproof Poncho'. The base layer is a fire-retardant material, and the topcoat is a reflective material designed to reflect the heat. The Poncho is also equipped with a respirator and visor of sorts which allows the user to breath unobstructed and see through the smoke. Once the user has escaped the fire, a whistle is attached to signal authorities. With this, they survive unscathed.
According to the World Health Organisation, 2.3 billion people worldwide still remain without access to clean cooking. Breathing in polluting fuels can lead to negative public health outcomes and premature death.My project aims to create a cooking system that uses a renewable and clean energy source. Electrolysis is a process that separates the hydrogen from water molecules which can be utilised to fuel a gas stove. I intend to produce a simple, clean energy, gas stove, which can be produced at mass. Ultimately, the goal is to aid in the adoption of sustainable and accessible cooking methods.
