In the medical industry many staff have experienced complications caused by handling of patients, specifically assisting patients, getting in and out of chairs/beds. My project aims to provide a solution that helps prevent injury on the medical staff and aid patients in medical settings whilst also helping to provide independent manoeuvrability for patients dealing with issues concerning their mobility.
74% of people who use wheelchairs daily express difficulty braking. My grandparents have had significant difficulties controlling their wheelchair on even modest slopes. My project aim is to deliver safer braking for a common wheelchair model using readily available and easy to fit components. I am inspired by the effectiveness of modern bicycle brakes.
Over half of all women in Australia feel unsafe when alone, especially at night. Through my MDP I aim to create a discrete, wearable, silent alert system to help women feel more secure, working to improve their overall wellbeing. My initial idea is to create a wearable piece of jewellery that can communicate or send a location to an external device, so I’m looking for support in technology and coding.
A multifunctional pet recovery station Watching a dog with mobility issues is heartbreaking. Or seeing a dog too small to get up onto your bed or couch. My goal is to build a simple, adjustable ramp to reduce the struggles your pet faces and reduce joint pain. Combined with storage for toys, food and water station and a bed for comfort, I have your furry friend covered. Bonus pet cam to check on your bestie linked to a mobile app to chat to pet owners, find meetups, sitters and promotions. Looking for app developers to build the app and promote
Finding and connecting with a mental health professional can often be difficult, financially challenging and off putting, placing a burden on prioritising one's mental health. I propose an app: easy to use, simple and effective in making therapy more accessible to the everyday person. Users are guided through profiles of therapists. The “chat” feature allows them to gauge the practitioner’s personality and decide if they would like to continue with their services. This function not only connects user and professional, but may also reduce first session anxiety. Looking for supporters who have expertise in UX and UI design.
Among excessive food waste, overconsumption, inflation, chaotic lives and not knowing what to cook there is a need for an application where users can log products in the fridge. All members of the household will have access to check existing items in the fridge. They will be sent reminders of food reaching its expiry date and be provided with recipe ideas according to the existing ingredients and produce. This will ensure all ingredients are maximised, provide meal ideas and save families money. I must familiarise myself with coding and find a way for the app to sync to different devices.
